Students in PreK are taught the 8 aspects of phase 1 following the Rainbow Phonics scope & sequence. 

In this session, Jessica explains how Rainbow Phonics is grounded in the Science of Reading and supports early literacy development in phase 1, including phonemic awareness, language and vocabulary development, and alphabet knowledge.

The Phase 1 decodable readers are introduced to expose emerging readers to print concepts, letter sounds, and build vocabulary. The Pre-K Teacher Planner includes daily activities designed to foster playing and exploring, active learning, and critical thinking, laying a solid foundation for reading success.

During the session, Jessica will preview the free lesson slides that are available for all 8 aspects and can be downloaded from RainbowPhonics.com. These slides are editable and aligned with daily activities.

This webinar provides an example of teaching the letters Aa and Bb with the free lesson slideshows, following a research-based routine. It also includes engaging activities like singing the Vowel Hand Song and the new Alphabet Song, helping to make phonics instruction fun and interactive for young learners.
